Comments: Yet again Woody breaks through the title. Jamming all your credits around a car in a title card doesn't work especially well. War cartoon about conservation. Necessary evil Woody. Interesting effect on the ABC book: it's moved in the real world. I'm not sure if it's in real time or stop motion animation. Woody doesn't have stamps, and steals gas. The joke ultimately being that he's siphoning from a cop car. Thinning cop and bulging tire. Woody and the cop actually die in the cartoon. And they go to heaven WHere there is no justice. The story is well constructed. The dog man is properly associated with Hardaway. I think I'm mentioning sign gags less. They're still there tho. I think this is the best Woody cartoon so far for '43. Titeyes in the rolling shot.
